Fox Creek General Store in Troutdale

This place is worth traveling to. It is a functioning general store with a selection of pantry items and sundries, but the gem is the food. It is to die for. Homemade, cooked fresh by a woman who really cares and is passionate about it. You can taste the love. She smokes the pork for the sandwiches outside, she cooked cakes and pies fresh. I had a conversation with the two ladies about recipes they are thinking about trying. I was a complete stranger from out of town and they fed me unbelievable food and made me feel immediately at home. I will find an excuse to go back and you should find a way to go too.

we stopped in last fall and had breakfast. It was a very pleasant experience. Neat store friendly people. I smelled the BQ but was not able to make it back to indulge. I plan to make the same trip again this fall, traveling the unpaved roads of Grayson county. Reasonable price's on everything including gas especially being out in the middle of nowhere.

Stopped in for breakfast while riding the Harley's. Could not ask for anything better if you're a biker or rustic charm sight-seer!Fantastic food, Sarah was a delight!! We will definitely be going back!!

This place is amazing. Lots of motorcycle nostalgia and the food is out of this world. The owners are awesome. They make you feel like family and treat you like best friends from the moment you step through the door

Fox Creek is a great stop to get camping supplies/groceries (including beer), fill up your tank with gas and then sit down for a delicious, home-cooked meal! The hospitality and food are top-notch (her biscuits are 😋). Thank you Sarah for wonderful meals and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Had a delicious sandwich here last weekend! Everything was fresh-made and very tasty with ample portions for the price. Quaint country store atmosphere complete with a small variety of grocery items, clothing, and memorabilia from days gone by. This place is now on my "must revisit" list!

I've been frequenting this place since I could walk. Never pass up an opportunity to stop in and get the best BBQ around(Smoked Fresh Daily!!). I wish there were more of these places still around and more people like Sarah running things. Great food, hospitality, and you always get a smile from the staff.

Stopped here for a break on a group motorcycle ride. Great place from what I saw. Love these kinda places. They have a little bit of everything. Nice place to stop by sit for awhile chat and relax.

Sarah slings a killer meatloaf sandwich, a ton of witty banter, and the perfect amount of grief over my dirty coffee mug. This place is a gem for the weary explorer, and the beer selection is phenomenal, especially per capita in the giant metropolis of Grant, Virginia.

Sarah is a great owner who knows how to cater to customers! The store has a lot of classic nicknacks and a real old time feel ... plus the BLT was great!

they had the best pulled BBQ pork sandwich I have ever tasted I moved out of Virginia a few years ago love the sandwich miss the place I moved to be close to my parents best sandwich you will ever get

Met Sarah and her family on the New River at Twin Rivers Campground. They are very nice folks. Will be visiting g their store in July during my next outing. Will update review then.

I live in the neighborhood so I know Fox Creek General Store and the proprietor well. I live about a half mile from the store and I visit there frequently.I have dined there for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as purchased take-out items. I am never disappointed because Sarah and her staff always do a great job preparing the food. Try it, you will not be disappointed!

Actual scratch made home cooked food in an area really into deep fried things that have come from a bag. Sarah smokes her own meats and barbecue too. Quaint welcoming atmosphere.

We love this stop, and its delicious foods! We camp down the road (at Grindstone) and every time we make sure we visit here for lunch. The Body Shop is our favorite but the turkey Ruben is another delicious sandwich. The Mac salad, bake beans and potato salad are all yummy. We love both Allyson and Sarah, and they’re always so helpful and friendly.

Sarah's Fox Creek General Store is awesome! It's a blend of the old with the new. She has great homemade food, wine, beer, gas, and a bunch of other supplies for locals, bikers, hikers from the Appalachian Trail (it's just 4 miles away) and people enjoying nearby horseback riding camps. It's on VA-16, one of the most scenic back roads in Virginia, close to the New River. I'm going back soon!!

Best BBQ I've had in a while. Was camping nearby at Grayson Highlands and this BBQ joint was the best thing after a days worth of cardio. On my first day we ate here for dinner. It was so good, my group and I came back for a second round (this time lunch!) Highly recommend the slaw IN the sandwich. Provides a great acid fat balance for anyone who orders the BBQ sandwich. The potato salad and beans are also on point. Beans have a lovely balance of sweet and salty wish I had asked for the recipe. Incredible service from Bruce, would def come back again

If you do nothing else in this life, you must try the BBQ at Fox Creek General Store! The owner takes great pride in the quality of the food they prepare and it is literally my "GO TO" place now for catered events and homemade party desserts. Even though it is a little out of the way, it is worth every mile:)

Sarah is welcoming and the food is a step above what you might expect from a general store. The bread is toasted, the bbq is made in promises, the soda selection is great and the biscuits are otherworldly and made daily. Treat yo self!

Nondescript building in the center of nowhere, definitely worth stopping. Warm friendly service and very good food at honest prices. All sorts of breakfasts and lunches available, amazing selection. My sandwich was a very generous one and superior to all of the fancy places. I'll be back.

We make a special trip on our motorcycle every 2-3 weeks from Huntersville NC to have lunch at Sarah's Fox Creek Store. The food and hospitality are wonderful and lots of "stuff" to look at in the store. The "Belt" and the "Luke" are great as well as specials that come up daily. Sarah and her staff are great folks.......stop in and check it out.

I'll always have a special place in my heart and stomach for the beautiful and extremely talented miss Sarah owner and operator of this conveniently located and well established business I'm not sure how long it's been there a very long time guaranteed but with Sarah and her wonderfully delicious eats it's sure to be around for a long time oh yeah and a summertime view that's unmatched anywhere else love you Sarah hope to see you again
